Israeli Chef Eyal Shani Brings Gas Station Concept to Miami
Renowned chef Eyal Shani will debut Naked Tomato at the Moxy Miami South Beach hotel on May 14, featuring a 4,600-square-foot space inspired by Israeli roadside dining. The opening is part of broader retail expansion across South Florida's hospitality and commercial sectors.
International chef Eyal Shani will launch his latest restaurant concept, Naked Tomato, at the Moxy Miami South Beach hotel on May 14, occupying 4,600 square feet at 915 Washington Avenue. The establishment draws inspiration from Israeli gas station flavors while embodying a contemporary diner atmosphere.
The restaurant will utilize 2,900 square feet for front-of-house operations within the 12-story hotel owned by a Lightstone affiliate, under the leadership of David Lichtenstein. Shani's culinary journey began with Oceanus in Jerusalem in 1989, followed by HaSalon in Tel Aviv, and subsequent ventures spanning Dubai, London, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Vienna, and Singapore.
Meanwhile, the mixed-use Strata Wynwood building at 21 Northeast 22nd Street has secured three retail tenants covering a combined 6,300 square feet. Paris Baguette plans to open by June, while Miami MKT Bodega & Café and Eclipse Hot Yoga target first-quarter 2025 openings. John Ellis of Newmark represented Rockhill, the property management arm of owner Rockpoint.
The 12-story Strata development encompasses 257 apartments, 62,000 square feet of office space, and 27,000 square feet dedicated to ground-floor retail, art studios, and parking facilities.
Colombian fashion retailer TNS has established its presence at Miami International Mall, located at 1455 Northwest 107th Avenue in Doral. The brand, originally known as Tennis in its home country since its 1976 founding in Medellín, operates more than 160 stores and continues expanding throughout South Florida. Simon Property Group owns the mall property.
In Coral Gables, Washington D.C.-based law firm Holtzman Vogel has committed to a 10-year lease for 6,400 square feet at the Ryder Colonnade building at 2333 Ponce de Leon Boulevard. The firm, specializing in political and regulatory matters plus litigation, expects to begin operations mid-next month, establishing its second Florida location alongside its existing Tallahassee office.
Stephen Rutchik of Colliers handled tenant representation, while Ryan Holtzman of Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord. Fort Worth-based Crescent Real Estate acquired the 11-story Ryder Colonnade for $70.4 million in December, representing a 13 percent discount from the building's 2013 sale price. The property was renamed to honor Ryder System, the Miami-Dade logistics company that relocated its headquarters to the building.
