WeatherTech CEO Completes $233M Florida Real Estate Spree
David MacNeil sold another Fort Lauderdale mansion for $26 million, marking his latest transaction in a year-long buying and selling streak across South Florida's luxury market. The WeatherTech founder has now completed $233 million in property deals since January.
WeatherTech founder David MacNeil has closed another major real estate transaction, selling his Fort Lauderdale beachfront mansion for $26 million to Pablo Umansky. The sale represents the latest move in MacNeil's extraordinary year of luxury property activity across South Florida.
The 10,300-square-foot mansion at 3052 North Atlantic Boulevard features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, four half-bathrooms, a pool, and 100 feet of beachfront on a 0.4-acre lot. MacNeil originally purchased the property for $3.2 million in 2018 and constructed the current mansion in 2023.
This marks the second time MacNeil has sold the same property within three years. He previously sold it in 2023 to Bang Energy founder Jack Owoc for $40 million, which set a local record at the time. However, MacNeil was forced to foreclose on the property after Owoc defaulted on a $30 million loan that financed the original purchase.
Owoc's financial troubles stemmed from his removal as CEO of Vital Pharmaceuticals following a devastating $293 million judgment awarded to Monster Energy in a false advertising case. Multiple lawsuits subsequently targeted Owoc, alleging financial misconduct and seeking to recover millions from the former energy drink executive.
MacNeil regained control of the mansion through foreclosure proceedings, paying $377,800 in August 2024 to reclaim the property. He initially listed it for $36 million in November before reducing the price in January. Chad Carroll with Compass handled the listing, while Umansky represented himself in the transaction.
The Fort Lauderdale sale continues MacNeil's remarkable run of high-value real estate activity throughout 2024. In February, he acquired an oceanfront Manalapan mansion for $68.3 million. Two months later, he sold a 3.6-acre oceanfront assemblage in Manalapan for $105 million, establishing a new record for land sales in the exclusive coastal community.
MacNeil also completed the sale of another waterfront Fort Lauderdale mansion for $34 million earlier this year. Combined with the latest transaction, the billionaire has bought and sold at least $233 million worth of residential properties across the tri-county region since January.
The automotive accessories mogul, who also faces nomination as Federal Trade Commission chair, represents a unique category of ultra-high-net-worth individuals driving South Florida's luxury real estate market. His aggressive buying and selling activity demonstrates the liquidity and appeal of the region's premium waterfront properties among billionaire investors.
